What to give as a Christmas gift to someone who loves sauna?

A good Christmas gift for a sauna enthusiast doesn't necessarily have to be big or expensive. At its best, a gift can make a familiar sauna experience a little better, bringing a new sensation to the steam, adding comfort, or perfecting the sauna's ambiance.

For Finns, the sauna is much more than just a place to wash. It's a place to relax, unwind, and spend time alone or with others. That's why a high-quality sauna gift is also an easy choice for someone who seems to have everything.

We've compiled some of our favorites from Sauna Menthol and our partner Jokipiin Pellava's selection for Christmas gift ideas.

1. Sauna Menthol – a different Christmas gift for a sauna enthusiast

If you're looking for a gift for someone who truly enjoys good steam, Sauna Menthol is made just for that.

Sauna Menthol is a menthol crystal made from 100% natural essential mint oil, used with sauna water. Just a few small crystals are enough to bring a powerfully fresh and cool sensation to the hot sauna. One 25-gram package is sufficient for about 80 sauna sessions.

In addition to the traditional Original, the selection includes scented Eucalyptus, Lemon, and Lavender, so you can choose the gift according to the sauna user's own taste.

Original offers the icy freshness of classic menthol, Eucalyptus brings a forest-like refreshing nuance to the steam, Lemon creates a lively and fresh atmosphere, and Lavender is suitable for a more peaceful sauna moment.

Due to its small size, Sauna Menthol is also well-suited as a small Christmas gift, stocking stuffer, or part of a larger sauna gift package.

2. Jokipiin Pellava sauna seat cover – a practical gift that brings joy for a long time

A high-quality sauna seat cover is one of the most reliable gifts for a sauna lover. It's practical, but at the same time, it can change the entire look of the sauna.

Jokipiin Pellava's sauna textiles are made in Jokipii, Jalasjärvi, Finland. Linen is especially suitable for sauna textiles because it absorbs moisture, dries quickly, and withstands sauna conditions.

For example, the Laituri sauna seat cover designed by Vappu Pimiä is 50% linen and 50% cotton. Its natural and calm pattern suits many types of saunas, making it an easy choice even when you don't know the recipient's decor style precisely.

3. Sauna pillow – a small luxury for everyday sauna sessions

A sauna pillow is one of those products that many people don't buy for themselves – but which they can quickly fall in love with.

Jokipiin Pellava's Laituri sauna pillow is made from linen-cotton and designed as part of Vappu Pimiä's Laituri collection, just like the seat cover. This allows you to create a cohesive gift set.

A sauna pillow works as a Christmas gift on its own, but you can also add a Sauna Menthol package, for example. In that case, the gift combines both practicality and a new kind of sauna experience.

4. Pefletti (sauna seat protector) – a small and easy sauna gift

If you're looking for a slightly more affordable gift for a sauna enthusiast, a high-quality pefletti is an easy option.

Jokipiin Pellava's selection includes several different patterns and styles. For example, the Laituri, Mänty, Humina, Pohjoinen, and SaunaBastu collections offer their own alternatives, so you can choose the gift according to the recipient's style.

A pefletti also works particularly well as part of a self-assembled sauna package. For example, combine a pefletti and Sauna Menthol, package them together, and you have a ready Christmas gift.

5. High-quality bath towel – a classic Christmas gift for a sauna lover

If you want to give a slightly more valuable and long-lasting gift, a high-quality bath towel is a safe bet.

Jokipiin Pellava's selection includes various linen textiles, from hand towels to large bath towels. For example, the Laituri collection features a bath towel that can be combined with other sauna textiles from the same series.

This is a good option, especially if you're looking for a Christmas gift for someone who appreciates domestic utility products and timeless design.

Sauna Menthol × Jokipiin Pellava – collaboration around Finnish sauna culture

The collaboration between Sauna Menthol and Jokipiin Pellava began in 2026 with a shared idea: a good sauna experience is made up of many small things.

Where Jokipiin Pellava brings over a hundred years of Finnish textile expertise to the sauna, Sauna Menthol brings a completely new kind of refreshing element to traditional steam. Jokipiin Pellava's roots go back to 1920, and the company's sauna textiles are manufactured in Jalasjärvi, Finland.

The first visible outcome of this collaboration was the jointly created Vappu's Sauna Set, with products selected by Vappu Pimiä. Initially, a limited edition of 500 sets was produced.

And the set was quite a gift package for a sauna enthusiast.

Vappu's Sauna Set – a ready-made gift for a true sauna person

Vappu's Sauna Set combines Sauna Menthol and Jokipiin Pellava products into one complete sauna ensemble.

The gift box includes a Laituri sauna pillow, Laituri pefletti, Laituri sauna seat cover, Laituri sauna turban, Villa washing mitt, and Sauna Menthol steam crystals. The set is available in both dark linen-black and light white-beige color options.

The idea behind the set perfectly encapsulates what a good Christmas gift for a sauna enthusiast can be: instead of just giving an item, you're giving the opportunity to make the next sauna experience a little better.

Build your own sauna gift for Christmas

Of course, you don't have to buy a pre-made gift package. You can easily build your own sauna gift.

A good combination could be Sauna Menthol Original, a Jokipiin Pellava pefletti, and a sauna pillow. For a slightly more valuable package, you could combine Sauna Menthol, a sauna seat cover, and a high-quality bath towel.

The essential thing is that the products are genuinely used. A good sauna gift doesn't end up at the back of the closet but reminds the giver of many future sauna moments.

A Christmas gift for a sauna enthusiast can be small – the experience is what matters

For a Finnish sauna lover, finding a good Christmas gift is surprisingly easy.

Sauna Menthol brings something entirely new to familiar steam. A quality sauna seat cover or pefletti refreshes the sauna's look. A sauna pillow adds comfort, and a good towel completes the sauna experience.

And if the gift recipient truly loves saunas, these can be used to create an entire sauna experience.

Christmas gift for a man – a gift for a sauna lover that won't be left at the back of the closet

Finding a Christmas gift for a man isn't always the easiest task. It's especially difficult when the recipient already seems to have everything they need. Men are generally not demanding and appreciate a gift idea they can use right away. A new item might not excite them, clothing size or style can go wrong, and many traditional Christmas gifts end up unused in the closet. That's why a good Christmas gift for a man might be something that offers a new experience in their busy daily life, rather than just an item. If the man enjoys sauna, the starting point is exceptionally good. Sauna is part of many Finns' weekly wellness routines, but the sauna experience can still be surprisingly enhanced with small things. High-quality sauna scents, various steam products, and especially menthol crystals can turn an ordinary home or cottage sauna into a new kind of experience. In this article, we'll explore why a sauna-related gift is a suitable Christmas present for a man and how Sauna Menthol® differs from traditional sauna scents. Why is a sauna gift a good Christmas present for a man? A good Christmas gift doesn't have to be expensive or grand. What's more essential is that the gift actually gets used appropriately. What could be better than combining the daily sauna routine with a gift idea for a man. A sauna-related gift fulfills this requirement particularly well when the recipient already uses the sauna. The gift doesn't require starting a new hobby; instead, it can enhance an existing routine. A sauna gift is suitable for, for example: a father or grandfather a spouse a brother a friend a colleague a cabin dweller an active sports enthusiast a man who enjoys sauna and recovery. Sauna products also have a good quality for Christmas gifts: they are consumable. The gift doesn't need to find a permanent place in the home; instead, it's used during sauna sessions throughout the year, sometimes even several times a week. This is precisely why a sauna scent as a gift can be a more interesting option than yet another mug, shirt, or decorative item. Sauna scents have changed – it's no longer just about the smell Traditionally, the purpose of sauna scents has been simple: to add a scent of, for example, eucalyptus, birch, tar, or other aromas to the steam water. Sauna Menthol approaches this in a slightly new way. Sauna Menthol® is based on menthol crystals made from natural essential mint oil. Menthol brings a strong sense of freshness and coolness to the sauna, creating a contrast to the sauna's heat. So, it's not just about how the sauna smells, but how the steam feels. The idea might sound contradictory: why would one want coolness in a hot sauna? It is precisely the contrast that makes the experience different. The sauna remains hot and the steam hot, but menthol activates the skin's cold-sensitive receptors. As a result, the sauna-goer experiences a strong fresh and cooling sensation without having to cool down the sauna itself. Menthol also has an opening effect, which truly opens up the lungs and senses. For a first-timer, the effect can be surprisingly powerful. The familiar sauna feels different in an instant. Many learn to use menthol crystals after a few uses with a dose that suits them. Sauna Menthol as a Christmas gift for a man Sauna Menthol® is especially suitable as a Christmas gift for a man who appreciates sauna but already has the most common sauna accessories. The product's idea is simple. A small amount of menthol crystals is added to hot steam water, after which steam is thrown normally. The menthol spreads with the steam into the sauna, creating its characteristic fresh and cooling effect. Use should start with a small amount, as menthol crystals are very strong. So, Sauna Menthol is not a new ladle or bench towel, but a way to change the sauna experience itself. This also makes it an interesting gift for someone who might not buy the product themselves. A good gift is often precisely like this: different enough to spark interest, yet easy enough to be used right away. What kind of Christmas gift for the man who has everything? The search term "Christmas gift for the man who has everything" encapsulates one of Christmas's eternal problems. If all necessary items are already owned, it's worth shifting focus from the quantity of items to the user experience. For a sauna enthusiast, one could, for example, build an entire sauna experience. Alongside Sauna Menthol, one could combine a quality sauna towel, a new ladle, sauna honey, a bathrobe, or other sauna-related products. Another option is to deliberately keep the gift simple. Sauna Menthol's gift package can hold 1-5 product bags, so the gift's contents can be tailored to the recipient. Explore the Sauna Menthol gift package Which Sauna Menthol sauna scent should I choose as a gift? When choosing a sauna scent, it's worth considering the recipient's preferences. Sauna Menthol's selection combines menthol's freshness with various aromas, such as eucalyptus, lemon, and lavender. Additionally, the original Original is available. Original is a natural choice for someone who wants to experience menthol as straightforwardly as possible. Its main focus is the intense freshness of menthol. Eucalyptus is especially suitable for those who enjoy strong and fresh sauna scents. Eucalyptus and menthol together form a very refreshing combination. Lemon brings a fresh citrus aroma alongside menthol. It's a good option when the recipient prefers lighter and more vibrant scents. Lavender steers the experience towards a calmer direction and is particularly suitable for relaxing evening saunas. If there's uncertainty about the recipient's preferences, combining several options in one gift solves the problem. At the same time, the recipient gets to try for themselves which sauna scent best suits their sauna. Even a small amount of menthol crystals is enough When it comes to Sauna Menthol, the size of the pouch should not be compared to, for example, the size of a liquid sauna scent bottle. Menthol crystals are very strong and are used sparingly. According to Sauna Menthol's own usage estimate, a 25-gram Original package lasts for approximately 80 sauna sessions, with a dosage of about 0.3 grams per use. This is a good quality in a Christmas gift. A small package brings joy to the recipient for a long time. With dosage, more does not automatically mean better. For the first few uses, it's advisable to start with a small amount and gradually find the right intensity for your own sauna. The size of the sauna, ventilation, heater location, and amount of steam water affect how strongly the menthol is perceived. How to use Sauna Menthol in the sauna Usage is intentionally simple. A small amount of menthol crystals is added to hot steam water, and steam is thrown normally onto the heater. For the first use, the dosage should be kept moderate and increased later according to personal preference. Sauna Menthol's instructions recommend about 1–3 small crystals for the first uses. The reference size for the crystals is about 0.5 cm. The crystals melt on the heater and evaporate quickly, leaving no residue on the sauna stones. Although the scent is very strong and the entire sauna or bathroom may smell for a while, the aroma of the sauna ice dissipates quite quickly. The effect on the skin, however, lasts long, sometimes up to an hour. The crystals should be stored outside the sauna in a dry, cool place. The melting point of menthol crystals is about 41 °C, so the package itself should not be taken into a hot sauna. The product should also be kept out of reach of children and pets. Christmas sauna is a natural moment to try a new sauna scent Christmas sauna in Finland is much more than just ordinary washing. In many homes, it is one of the most enduring Christmas traditions. That's why a sauna-related Christmas gift also works a little differently than many other gifts. The gift doesn't necessarily have to wait weeks or months to be used. Sauna Menthol can be put into use already during the first steams of Christmas. Menthol's freshness is particularly interestingly suited for the Christmas sauna, where there are otherwise many warm and familiar scents. The contrast between the heat of the sauna and the cold sensation of menthol makes the traditional Christmas sauna a bit different without having to change the tradition of sauna itself. A gift for an active and sporty man Sauna and exercise form a familiar pair for many Finns. After a gym session, a run, a ski trip, or other training, the sauna is a moment when activity stops and the body can calm down. For such a recipient, a sauna product is a natural choice precisely because it relates to an existing routine. Sauna Menthol brings a strong fresh feeling to the post-workout sauna. However, it should not be marketed as medicine or a proper recovery booster. The product's value lies primarily in the sauna experience: the coolness of menthol combines with hot steam in a way that cannot be achieved with ordinary sauna scents. A sauna gift for dad, spouse or friend The same Christmas gift can work well for very different men. A Christmas gift for dad could be a Sauna Menthol gift set with a few different scents to try. Especially for a dad who saunas a lot, the gift will likely get actual use. A Christmas gift for a spouse can be built into a complete sauna evening by combining the sauna product with, for example, a bathrobe, good food, and a peaceful evening together. A Christmas gift for a friend, on the other hand, could simply be one bag of Sauna Menthol. The gift doesn't always have to be grand. If the product is new to the recipient, the experience itself is an essential part of the gift. Sauna Menthol is also a natural gift for a cabin owner. For many, sauna is such an integral part of cabin life that a sauna product finds its place without needing to invent a separate purpose. A domestic Christmas gift centered around sauna Sauna is an exceptionally Finnish setting to build a gift idea around. Sauna Menthol® is a Finnish registered trademark. The products are designed and packaged in Finland, and the brand's premise has been to combine Finnish sauna culture with a new kind of experience brought by menthol. Sauna Menthol has also developed aromatized menthol crystals, which combine the effect of menthol with various sauna scents. This way, traditional steam scent and the cooling sensation of menthol crystals are brought into the same product. Aromatized menthol crystals are exclusively available in Sauna Menthol's product range. Ultimately, it's a simple idea: you don't have to reinvent the sauna. Sometimes, it's enough to make the familiar steam a little more interesting. A Christmas gift for a man can be small but memorable When considering what to get a man for Christmas, the first thing to forget is the idea that a good gift should be as large or valuable as possible. A good gift aligns with the recipient's lifestyle. If a man saunas weekly, a sauna-related gift offers something he can use dozens of times even after Christmas. And if he already has common sauna accessories, a new kind of sauna scent or menthol crystals can offer something he doesn't yet own. Sauna Menthol® is designed precisely for this purpose. The combination of menthol's coolness and hot steam transforms a familiar sauna moment into an experience without new equipment, renovations, or complex instructions. That's why it's suitable as a Christmas gift for a man who loves sauna, but also for that famous man who has everything.

Miksi sauna tuntuu kesällä erilaiselta kuin talvella?

Why does a sauna feel different in the summer than in the winter?

Many Finns think of sauna primarily as a winter experience and a "flu killer." After a frosty day, a warm sauna and steamy löyly (sauna steam) feel like an almost perfect combination in the midst of a busy everyday life. In summer, however, the experience is very different. Even if the sauna temperature is the same, the body reacts to it differently, and the atmosphere of the sauna changes with the seasons. There's something unique about a summer sauna. An open lake view, a warm evening, and the proximity of nature make the sauna experience different from mid-winter. Many find a summer sauna even more refreshing than a winter sauna, even when it's hot outside. The contrast in temperatures changes In winter, one of the key elements of a sauna is the strong temperature difference. Outside, it can be twenty degrees below zero, and inside the sauna, eighty degrees Celsius. The body experiences a big change when moving from cold to warm. The humidity of the indoor air also changes in winter, which adds to the contrast. In summer, the situation is different. The outdoor temperature can be over twenty degrees Celsius, so the body is already warm before entering the sauna. Because of this, the löyly can feel softer and more even. At the same time, one might not stay in the sauna as long as in winter. Many are surprised by how much the outdoor temperature affects the sauna experience. In summer, saunas often feel more relaxing, and the body doesn't have to adapt to such large temperature fluctuations. Nature is part of the summer sauna A special feature of the summer sauna is its environment. In winter, saunas often focus on indoor spaces, but in summer, the sauna extends to the terrace, pier, and beach. Cooling off in a lake, sea, or swimming pool is an essential part of the sauna experience for many. A short swim between löyly sessions effectively cools the body and makes the next löyly more pleasant. A summer evening also brings its own atmosphere to the sauna. The bright evening, the sound of birds, and the peace of nature make the experience more comprehensive than just sitting in the sauna. Breathing feels different Many sauna-goers notice in summer that breathing feels different than in winter. Warm air often contains more moisture, which affects how the löyly feels when breathing. At this point, many use sauna scents or menthol crystals to bring more freshness and atmosphere to the löyly. When menthol vaporizes into the water thrown on the hot stones, it creates a cooling and airway-opening sensation that is especially well-suited for a summer sauna. On a hot summer day, intensely hot löyly might not always be appealing, but fresh and invigorating löyly can make the sauna experience much more pleasant and a very opening experience. Summer sauna supports recovery Summer is an active time. People move more, engage in outdoor activities, and spend time in nature. For this reason, the importance of recovery is also emphasized. Sauna helps to relax after exercise and provides an opportunity to unwind at the end of a busy day. When combined with light cooling off and adequate hydration, the experience supports overall well-being. Many athletes and active people use sauna as part of their recovery routines year-round, but especially in summer, the combination of sauna and cool water is often perceived as very pleasant. The nature of löyly changes in summer In summer, saunas are often heated to slightly more moderate temperatures than in winter. This results in softer and more humid löyly. Especially in cottage saunas, many prefer a leisurely sauna experience in summer, combined with socializing with friends, rather than long löyly sessions. The goal is not so much to maximize heat but to relax and enjoy. For this reason, various löyly products have also grown in popularity. Scents like eucalyptus, lemon, lavender, and menthol bring new nuances to the löyly and make the sauna experience even more versatile. The charm of the summer sauna comes from the whole experience Although the sauna is the same all year round, the season affects it surprisingly much. In winter, the sauna is characterized by intense heat and the contrast of cold. In summer, the focus is on the proximity of nature, brightness, swimming, and a peaceful atmosphere. This is precisely why many Finns consider the summer sauna to be the best sauna experience of the year. It is not just a warm room but part of a whole that includes the cottage, lake, friends, family, and the Finnish summer. When a touch of freshness is added to the löyly, for example, with the help of sauna ice, i.e., menthol crystals, the summer sauna can become an even more refreshing and memorable experience.
